School Visits

Admission for school visits are R30.00 per learner and R35.00 per teacher. All bookings must be made at least a week beforehand, there is no guarantee that schools will be able to visit the Apartheid Museum if the school is not booked.  The museum must be notified if the school is unable to attend the museum and if they wish to have a guided tour.  if the school arrives late, the museum can forfeit the guided tour. The Apartheid Museum opens at 9 am and the school tours are a minimum of two hours. Teachers are supposed to accompany the children with the guide on the tour, and are responsible for the children's behavior on the tour. Different age groups will explore different sections of the museum. Children grades 6-9 will be given booklets to work with for different ages, the museum does not provide writing tools for the children. The teachers can use these booklets for follow-up lessons when they return to the school. No cameras are permitted in the Apartheid Museum. No food is allowed in the Apartheid Museum unless the guide approves. No alcohol is permitted in the Apartheid Museum. If any of the teachers or learners is inebriated or has alcohol they will not be allowed in the Apartheid Museum. These rules are for each student and teacher's saftey.
